Although indoor football or soccer is a kind of game derived from the original football game, it is configured to be played indoors in an arena or field similar to skating rink or ice hockey arena. The game of indoor football is most commonly played in the US. Both the amateur and the professional league of the sport can be tracked in the United States. However, majority of indoor games played beyond North America comprise of FIFA approved futsal game. The game of indoor soccer or football is spreading its wings and has become a renowned sport in the city of Mexico where it is incorporated in the University National Games called as “Universiada”. Besides, it also demands a space in Private school tournament such as the CONDDEIP, in which the Mexican school teams compete against each other. Paradoxically, in Mexico the fields of indoor football games are constructed outdoors. The sport is called as “Futbol Rapido” in the city of Mexico.
Rules of Indoor Soccer:
Although the rules of indoor football differ with respect to the governing entities, some universally accepted rules are specified below:
Field: The arena of indoor football needs to be oblong or rectangular in shape covered by turf floors. Several collegiate leagues play the game in basketball courts which are made up of hardwood. The walls have to be 6 ft high. The goals are smaller as compared to the normal soccer fields.
Team: Each team of the indoor football comprises of 6 members and has one goalkeeper each.
Cards: Besides the standard red and yellow cards, a third card, usually of a blue colour is used by few leagues. It is used for giving warnings prior to the issuing of a yellow card.
